Instagram Hop September 10, 2021

Welcome to our Altenew Educator Instagram Hop. Our challenge this month is unusual but one I enjoyed. It’s all about Text; numbers, alphabet, sentiment etc.

Altenew incorporates a great variety of beautiful fonts into their stamps and dies. The sentiments in new stamp sets are eagerly anticipated just like the images. Browsing through the many scripted words and dies, it’s hard to imagine any occasion that has been missed!

I spend as much time choosing my words as I do my colors. After all, the thought is why I’m sending the card! The many fonts can be carefully matched with the sentiment. A more formal font is appropriate for the more serious cards. A playful font is best for a fun card.

In this hop I have chosen to make Holiday Tags. It is by far my most favorite paper creation. I’m not a Christmas in July person. The right mood just isn’t there when it’s over 100 degrees in my state, Arizona. But September? The holiday stamps come out, glitz and sparkle are all over my desk. It is at last time to make tags! (They are sized to also work as a slimline card).

The sentiment “Winter” stands out due to its size and the gold Glitter Cardstock, my new favorite Altenew product. The Slim Deco Cover Die is cut in gold foil to give the tag continuity.

This beautiful sentiment (Holiday Wishes) expresses my feelings and takes a prominent place at the bottom of the tag. The gold Glitter Cardstock “joy” emphasizes the feeling I wish to portray.

My box of Altenew holiday stamps, dies and stencils will be at my studio desk for the next four months. With all of those products at my side, I can mix, match and play my way to a finished tag.

This tag has a green ombre background. Over that the Classic Pine stencils were inked and gold-embossed. The flowers are from the Bitterroot Flower Die and Stencil Set.

I was tempted to add gold sequins but held myself back. They might have been one embellishment too many, even on a holiday tag.

The font on Altenew’s 2021 stamp is a show stopper all by its self. Add the Glitter Cardstock “Christmas”die cut and the sentiment pops right out! Bamboo Rose is perfectly suitable for a Christmas tag. The images are colored with Altenew Water Color Markers. The pine cone from Poinsettia & Pine is embossed in Antique gold as is the Woven Stencil in the background. Once again there is a decision to sequin or not to sequin. It was a no once again.
