Floral beauty and messages of love all in one! The stamp set features a beautiful bouquet of lilies, elaborate leaves, and baroque elements. The minimalist style is a colorist’s dream, as it provides plenty of open space to add coloring and shading. Not a coloring enthusiast? Our coordinating coloring stencils make adding color sweet and simple. Finally, we have maximized this stamp set with tons of sentiments so you can stay in touch with your loved ones.

Feathered Lilies Stencils, 3D Embossing Folder and Die

3D Embossing Folder

Coloring or Fussy Cutting a 3D embossing folder used to be a real challenge for me. I slipped outside the lines when I colored. My fussy cutting edges were far from perfect.

Altenew has taken us a long way from that with the addition of blending brushes, stencils and die cuts that line up perfectly with the 3D image. Now I color and die cut the image and just say “WOW!” when the image is finished. The addition of stencils and die cuts is a game changer when it comes to 3D embossing folders.

Initially I just experiment with my stencils By coloring them, I get to know the design (differentiating leaves from petals) and figure out where shading should be..

First experiment with the Feathered Lily Embossing Folder
Playing with depth of Color/Shading
Experiment with a “light touch”

Watching Jaycee Gaspar color in a recent retreat helped me better understand how to go about coloring with a lighter touch. I tend to start out too bold with my inks. It’s hard to turn back once that darker color has been applied. The resulting flower is darker than what I wanted as I continue to color and deepen the darker colors so they contrast with the light.

The goal with this card was to create delicate, pastel lilies.

I used just two ink pads for this image, Misty Moor and Wisteria. In some places I only colored one time with the small blending brush. In some areas I went back two or three times to get a darker shade without going too dark.

For the background I colored Altenew Embossing Paste with the Silver Stone Alcohol reinker. The paste was evenly spread on the Woven Stencil. The result, to me, looks like striped ribbon.

I stamped the sentiment from Feathered Lilies in jet black ink and heat embossed it clear onto a 2″ strip of vellum. I then die cut the “hugs” three times, and ombre colored the top layer.

The Feathered Lily image was die cut in gray then offset under the main image to give a shadow effect.

I decided on no sequins, not glimmer . . . more than likely this will be a sympathy card. I wanted it beautifully simple. And it is.

Diane Ten Hove has influenced me to use more square cards. This is a 6″ square. It allows enough space for most of the embossed image.
