Full Size Die Cut Machine (Must be compatible with the hot foil machine if you are hot foiling)

Hot Foil Machine if you wish to do the hot foiling. I used Spellbinders Glimmer Machine.

(My plates are getting a little warped. Two pieces of cardstock were necessary for me to use as shims. Your machine may need no shims.)

The more I worked with this set, the more I loved it. I just kept getting more ideas of how it could be used!

I added several additional steps to this card:

I drew with pencil around the edge of the frame then cut out those leaves and petals that could overlap the frame. Check out the photo below. (It looks very pretty with the frame just laid over the top of the flower. The extra fussy cutting is not necessary.)

I also used Antique Gold Permanent Ink to brush the centers of the flowers. ( Crisp Dye Ink in any color works well also.)

Those little dots that came from the frame edge were used as embellishments around the image. Again, not necessary if it’s too fussy for you. Gold splatter would also work.

Please don’t limit yourself to the colors I’ve used. I’d love to see your variation of what I made.

Here are a couple more samples.

In class we talked about adding a hot foil sentiment strip to an already foiled image. This is the proper setup. Refer to hot foil videos with Yana Smakula for more detailed information.

I hope to see you in another class. I teach virtually once a month on Bridget Casey’s Free Saturday Workshop and every second Wednesday. I teach in-person at Bluemoon Scrapbooking in Tucson, Arizona. Watch for announcements in the Altenew newsletter.

  1. Hi Pam – Your card are so stunning. The gold hot foil is the perfect structure for your beautiful stencil work. I would love to see this done in deep blue – like shades of Navy. Thanks for providing these wonderful samples. Nisa
