Masking Unleashed Level II
Advice before masking: Have a cup of coffee, clear your brain and your workspace.
It may be a little time consuming, but masking is so rewarding! Pulling off the masks for a reveal is just like unwrapping a gift.
One of the greatest challenges when masking is getting the color right up to the edge of the other images. In the image above, the inking on the Crocus and leaves is not coming up to the edges.
Here it is especially tricky because in some places there are three layers of masking to stamp over.
The solid, curved lines also add to the difficulty.
To help alleviate this flaw, the mask should be very carefully cut inside the outer edge so it’s slightly smaller than the image. I’ve found it’s best if the mask is placed so it’s just slightly inside the edge of the stamped image. When I pull the mask off and the ink is still wet, I use a Fantastsix to spread the ink over any unlinked areas.
This card was made from the positive cut of the Easter dies from the card above.
The background is stamped in Altenew’s Andromeda ink with small images found in the Canterbury Bells stamp set.
The Wishes sentiment from Mega Greetings 2 is white heat-embossed.
This card is 4 1/4 x 10 1/2. The configuration seems to work with this larger word. I backed the card front with craft foam to give it stability.
