AECP Level II With a Twist
My three new families of ink from Altenew arrived! Before I could begin the next class, Fall Harvest, Sugar Plums and (my favorite) Tranquililty needed to be moved into their new home. My Altenew inks are stored by color then by family. Each case is labeled with the family and their order of light to dark # 1 -#4. Hanging in front of the ink pads are the color swatches for quick reference.
The first lesson is a clean and simple card. It was not a background I had tried before. Using just the leaf image from the Violet set I stamped the outline layer and heat embossed it gold. I offset the second layer a bit and stamped it in green.
This technique is kind of fascinating to try with different colors and stamps.
Next I tried a gray background with silver heat embossing. The Ornamental Orchard image was stamped with just one more layer in a warm gray. I think it would be a great man’s card.
When I finished this lavender card for lesson #1 as I’d done the above cards it was just kind of blah. A bit more color seemed to liven it up as a ladies’ birthday card should be.
With a Twist Lesson #2
With a Twist, lesson two, is a simple and clean background using only two of the flower layers.
Therese Calvird posted an elegant sympathy card for this lesson. I loved it so much only the stamp set and color were changed for my card. There is a combination of stamping right on the background with the outline stamp, stamping on the background with two layers and die cutting elements that were stamped 3 or 4 times. The flower and some of the leaves are popped to give the card depth.
The Beautiful Day stamps and dies were used for this card. The sentiment is from Heartfelt Sentiments.
Gray is beginning to get a lot of attention in the card world. I used the Warm Gray family of colors for this card. The yellow flower gives it a simple but elegant look.
Terese colored on colored cardstock . Something I have never done. Then I saw videos by designers such as Kelly Lavatola coloring on cardstock with Copic markers! Valentine’s Day is approaching. And that’s how this card began creation in my head.
I used images from Flower Garden for the rose and leaves. The Radial Hearts Cover Die was cut in black. Love U sentiment is from Label Love. Metalic Gold cardstock was die cut into a circle.
And look at that! The flower and leaves were no-line colored with Copic markers.
I loved the With a Twist class. I got to try a number of techniques that were new to me.
