AECP II In the Mood for Color

In the Mood for Color is about the moods different colors evoke and how we might apply that to card making.
PINK
The color pink was named long ago for the flower called pink.
Pink is appropriate when we want to create a sense of charm, politeness, sensitivity, tenderness, sweetness, childhood, feminity or romance.

This birthday card was created with Altenew’s Build-A-Flower Stargazer stamps and dies.  I used the Cherry Blossom family of inks with the center stamped in Midnight Violet.  The background is a small stamp from the Stargazer set.

RED
The color red is warm and bright.  It is associated with love.  Red has a strong and powerful masculine energy.  It is a color packed with emotions ranging from passionate intense love to danger and violence.  Red represents both cupid and the devil.

For my red card I focused on the more positive side of the color red, love.
The Altenew Build-A-Flower Stargazer was used again.  This time no dies were necessary.  I masked the images instead.  Because there is a design element down the left side, it is a side folding instead of a top folding card.

It is interesting that red has such masculine qualities.  So would this card be appropriate to send to either a man or a woman?

BLUE
Blue is a cool and calming color.  Is good for meditation and relaxation.  Blue symbolizes loyalty, strength, wisdom, trust, faith, heaven and sincerity.  Blue also represents the sky and the sea.
Altenew’s new blue color family is Tranquility.  Very aptly named.

This Stargazer card is stamped with the bee-u-tiful new Tranquilty family from Altenew.  It just gets prettier with each layer!  They are grayish blueish greenish colors that I’ve not found in stamps before.  I need to order the reinkers because it will definitely be a favorite.

The oval frame die from Sweet Friend is stacked with three layers and heat-embossed silver as is the sentiment from Heartfelt Sentiments.  To have the sentiment strip co-ordinate with the rest of the card I swiped one of the Tranquility colors across white cardstock.  An anti-static tool was used to make sure the ink was dry before it was  embossed.

The nice gentle background is water and Distress ink (Weathered Wood) on water color paper.

Blue’s calm, sincere feeling is perfect for  sympathy/thinking of you/get well cards like this one.

/Yellow/Gold
Yellow and gold share many of the same attributes.  They are cheerful, youthful, fun, energetic and enthusiastic.  As the shades move from bright yellow to gold the mood turns to extravagance, illumination, love and compassion.  Gold is the winner’s color.

The new Altenew Fall Harvest family of colors goes from a nice yellow to a dark gold.   I kept seeing more possibilities as I experimented with using the Harvest colors with the Stargazer stamp set. This is not the card I envisioned when I started.  It’s better!

The background texture is done with white embossing paste colored with the lightest shade of the Harvest colors.  It’s spread across the Wavy Grid stencil but not over the entire stencil. This did not dry as soft a yellow as I wanted so I inked Altenew’s Enchanted Gold lightly over the dry embossing to achieve a more subtle gold.

With the above attributes yellow/gold seems best for anniversary, congratulations or cards for kids.
