AECP Level II Creative Water Color Media
In Lesson One Jennifer Rzasa introduced the use of re-inkers as water colors.
For my card Altenew’s Blush re-inker seemed to best co-ordinate with the Golden Peach Embossing Powder. It is a pretty copper/peach glossy color that is perfect for the Dotted Blooms which look like cherry blossoms to me. Not only did I use the embossing powder for the image and sentiment but I made a strip of it down the left edge using strong double-
sided tape.
Because I was going to die cut the image I lined the flower and stem up with the die and attached it to my Misti. It die cut that long flexible stem beautifully.
A layer of vellum added a more feminine, wispy feel to the card.
This card base is water color paper which is not totally smooth. I used a Misti and stamped each image several times to get good coverage.
Techniques from many of the lessons in Creative Water Color Media are used including ink smooshing with Broken China Distress Ink, a Shaker window, and water color resist.
The tulip, from Exotic Tulips, is stamped in Ruby Red and Parrot then clear heat-embossed. SPRING, from For All Seasons, is stamped in Permanent Black Ink and clear heat-embossed.
Zoom in and you can see yet another layer of clear heat-embossing with the rain drops from Rain or Shine.
The Wishes is a die from a Christmas set called Holiday Script Words. I put the Ruby Red ink pad direct to white paper and created a solid red paper. It was clear heat-embossed to match the other red elements on the card. There are two layers of white die cuts beneath the red wishes to give depth.
This needed to be a 5×7 card in order for all of the elements to fit.
Color Therapy is what I would call this technique taught by Laura Bassen.
For my cards I used just one stamp from Altenew’s Hellebore set. It is clear heat-embossed all over the card front. Then the most fun part is reinkers randomly dropped and spread with water.
I could have experimented with different colors all night long!
The Creative Water Color Media Class was a great opportunity to just play with water color.
