Impressive Heat Embossing Level II
Heat Embossing is THE big draw for attracting new stampers. Nearly 30 years ago I watched a demo of gold heat embossing at a stamp store. I purchased the heat gun, VersaMark, gold embossing powder and a wood-mounted rubber stamp of a cornucopia. Thousands of dollars and a room full of supplies later, heat embossing is still one of my favorite techniques.
An embossed image will resist water color. The results are spectacular!
On this card, flowers from Garden Silhouette are white heat-embossed on water color paper.
Because the paper is textured, it’s a good idea to stamp the VersaMark using a Misti. Sometimes it’s necessary to stamp two or three times to get the ink down into those little nooks and crannies.
Anti-static powder is also critical to keep the tiny flecks of embossing powder where they belong.
Lots of clear water was applied. Then one shade of purple and one shade of blue Altenew Water Color were dropped into the water. I tipped the card around so the paint would run and blend.
The tie dye ribbon was brought back from Hawaii. I did my souvenir shopping at the Ben Franklin store!
Heat-embossed images will also resist ink.
The solid leaf cluster from Leaf Canopy was gold heat-embossed first.
The trickiest part came next. Trying to keep masking paper on those slick embossed leaves was a real challenge!
After masking, the solid leaves I stamped the outline leaves and gold heat embossed them as well.
The sentiment from Fancy Greetings was also gold heat-embossed.
Two shades of green Oxide Distress ink were used to complete the background.,
This card design by Erum Tasneem caught my eye. Could I apply this design to a totally heat-embossed card? Let’s give it a try!
Heat-embossing on Vellum adds a translucent beauty to stamping.
A different embossing powder was used for each layer of the flower from Peony Bouquet. They included Silver, Gold and Golden Peach.
The stripes were accomplished by patting a VersaMark ink pad on top of the Ombre Stripe stencil then heat-embossing in silver.
The celebrate sentiment comes from the mini Celebrate stamp set.
Finally, the splatters are heat-embossed in gold using VersaMark and Altenew’s mini Snowing background stamp.
Voila! Erum’s card design completely in heat-embossed elements.
