Stenciled Backgrounds

The inspiration for this workshop came from a YouTube video with Jennifer McGuire and Gina K. Jennifer called her technique “Trapped Pattern”. She used both background stamps and stencils.

For this class I will be using just stencils. Feel free to use any combination of stencils and background stamps. We will be focusing on the background with suggestions for embellishments and sentiments. It’s a playday! I can’t wait to see what you make.

Supplies are listed for the samples below. In general you will need:

A background stencil with a small repetitive pattern

A stencil with a large pattern

Clear Embossing ink

Sponge dauber

Your choice of inks

Ink blending tools

Sticky Mat

Halftone Stencil
