Altenew July Inspiration Challenge

This month’s challenge photo really called to me. I have loved Folk Art ever since my family traveled to the Pennsylvania Dutch area when I was a child. And blue is my favorite color.

The window inspired me to create a gatefold card. Starting with 8 1/2 x 4 1/4″ it is scored at
2 1/8″and 6 1/8″.

The image was hot foiled in Spellbinders’ Skybright Foil on Jet Black Cardstock several times. The color inspiration was used to select a gold (yellow), blue and green from Altenew’s Metallic Watercolor set. They are rich, shiny gorgeous colors.
The watercolor dried quickly. Then the entire image was fussy cut. A circle die was used to cut out the centers.

This card was so satisfying to make because many of my favorite things were used:
Black background though it does show every tiny flaw in photos.
Metallic Watercolor is so silky and shiny and elegant.
Shaker inside the card! And who doesn’t love to get a shaker card?
Folk Art with its beautiful symmetrical design elements.
Check my blog for another Folk Art card with the Pysanka Easter Egg Workshop.
I teach a virtual workshop every second Wednesday and once a month on Bridget Casey’s Free Saturday Workshop. I offer in-person classes at Bluemoon Scrapbooking in Tucson, Arizona.
Watch Altenew’s newsletter for announcement of my classes. I’d love to meet you and share my addiction to Altenew.
