April 2 Retreat Travel Journal Page

I was a scrapbooker long before I made cards. I’m sorry I’ve not done much scrapbooking lately but my plan is to get back into it through making journals.

A travel journal about my trip to Mexico seems the perfect place to start. It’s not a lengthy project and the photos are just exploding with color.

For today’s workshop I will be sharing my title page. You may choose to make a card or a different subject for your project. You just need a floral stamp set that includes a matching stencil set and two background stencils. This class is a lot about the background.

My supplies include:

Build-a-Garden Rose Gallia Bundle

Crisp Dye Inks: Deep Blue Sea, Golden Sunset and Tropical Forest

Obsidian Ink

Illusion Spiral Stencil

Sketched Line Stencil

Mighty Alphabet

Small Blending Brushes

Large Blending Brushes

Journal Page size of your choice. Mine is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 “. Or it could be a 5 x 7” card.

White cardstock for stamping

Double-sided adhesive or glue

Foam adhesive

Instructions:

Stamp the image twice in black on white cardstock.

Stamp three words in black on white cardstock. Refer to photo (I used Inspire me etc.)

On the journal page using large blending brushes, blend from lighter to medium starting with Deep Blue Sea at the top, Tropical Forest in the center then Golden Sunset at the bottom.

Let dry or heat set.

On a piece of white cardstock do a similar blending technique. This will be used to die cut the word.

With medium to dark Golden Sunset ink pads, stencil Sketched Line over the blue and green portion of the page.

With Darkest Golden Sunset ink pads, stencil with Illusions Spiral Stencil over the yellow portion of the page.

Using the small blending brushes and stencils, color both floral images as shown in class. Only the large flower and one of the leaf clusters will be colored on the second images.

Note: I use Stencil #5 before Stencil #4.

Die cut or fussy cut the complete floral image.

Fussy Cut and pop up the second image with Foam adhesive as shown in photo.

Die cut the large word with Mighty Alphabet two or more times.

Cut word strips from the there words stamped in black. Or you can use Sentiment Die et to make the strips.

Assemble the page.

Now I’m thinking a journal about my dog, Mulligan would be a good idea.
