Eucalyptus Jar Class (March 18, 2021)

This is the first card we will be making:

This card has an acetate window. It is colored with Altenew 36 water colors as are all of the cards. Holes are punched at each side of the lid so twine can be strung through and wrapped.

The jar in card #2 is die cut and popped up on the card front. The card base has been scored every 1/2″. The tag is stamped in black ink and heat-embossed clear. The sentiment is heat- embossed in white.

Coloring water and glass is truly a specialty. Artists can spend a lifetime studying just this particular skill. For tutorials on coloring glass and water go to YouTube. One artist I recommend is Sandy Allnock.

Card Samples

The background for this card is done with Altenew’s Woven Stencil, Crisp inks and Small Blending Brush.

Washi Background

Altenew Deco Lines Washi Tape makes the background for this card. The mat is gold foil paper and the sentiment is heat-embossed in gold. Leaves are painted with Altenew’s Metallic Water Colors.. Altenew’s Metallic Thread is tied around the jar.

Ombre Background

This background is painted with Altenew 36 Water Color in ombre fashion. Once dry it was partially covered with Altenew’s Embossing Paste over the Getting Dotty Stencil.

Background with CoverDie

The Altenew Water Color Stripes Background die is placed over black cardstock for this background.

Stencil Background

The background for this card was first water colored in rainbow stripes. Once it was totally dry, the Half-Tone Stencil was secured over top. A slightly wet sponge was dabbed over the stencil to removed paint and created white dots.

Splatter Background

The water is this jar is painted with Altenew Ocean Waves Ink Spray. The ink spray and various colors of Metallic Water Color are used for the splatters. The jar was cut out and acetate put in the window.

Shaker

The acetate window cards above are taken one step further to be made into a shaker. Foam adhesive has been doubled to allow a depth that will accommodate the sequins.

The idea to add a flower to the jar from another stamp set came from Kelly Griglione. I used a flower from Hawaiian Coral. The image now works perfectly on a slimline card. The background is Misty Meadow Washi.
