Favorite Old/New Altenew Stamp Blog Hop + Linky Party +Giveaways

You hopped her from the talented Tenia Nelson ‘s blog.

This month we were asked to choose an old or new favorite Altenew product to feature in this blog hop. At one time or another every Altenew product has been my favorite.

Lately I’ve been enjoying working with the 3D Flower Dies and Altenew Paper Pads. I’ve also been obsessed with the idea of being able to travel again. Hawaii is calling. So I selected the Altenew Hibiscus Garden 3D Die set and Alluring Blooms Paper Pack as my favorites for this Blog Hop.

Bright colors and exotic were in my mind as I began to design this card. Black and gold are my definition of exotic. The fern from Hibiscus Garden 3D die set was used to cut out three designs in the black background.

Gold Metallic Water Color Paint was splattered over the black background. Black foam dots were used to pop up the background. (This gives a more finished look than white foam dots when the card is viewed from the side).

The gorgeous Alluring Blooms papers were then spread across my desk to determine which colors would be used as the focus for the Hibiscus Bloom dies. I die cut and stacked many of them before royal blue and orange were chosen as the main colors. Remaining flowers will be perfect for a journal page.

Using the stacking instructions on the back of the package I assembled 2 flowers of one pattern and 3 of the other. Foam dots were used to build the layers. Even the tiny pieces have grooves and notches that help match up the layers. Metallic gold was used for 3 ferns and the pistil of the flowers.

The pieces were then moved around until my eye liked what it saw. They were then adhered with liquid glue. I did leave edges of some ferns loose to give more dimension.

There was a nice variety of die cuts left after making the card. They were perfect for a journal page. In addition to Hibiscus Garden 3D dies, Caps Bold Alpha Dies and Simple Alpha Dies were used on the journaling page. Alluring Blooms was again the chosen paper pack along with metallic gold.

The journal page has the instructions for assembling the two different flowers with a couple hints. It also shows many different color combinations.

I love including a few small photos which were mementos from a Hawaiian vacation with my sister and her husband.

Even after I send the Hibiscus card to someone else, I have the journal page to keep for me.

  5. Your card is so neat! I like that you have positive and negative die cuts for the ferns; that really makes it distinctive. The dark background paired with the gold is really fancy shmancy.
