Mission Inspiration AECP Level III
Nicole Watt is well organized and has many different sources for inspiration. She has motivated me to get my Pinterest pins in order. She also has some fabulous suggestions as to what to put into the browser to find Layout,Color and Style ideas on Pinterest. These were new to me and I can’t wait to do some binge Pinterest searching. My searches have been focused on cards. She is leading me to other areas to find Pinterest inspiration for my cards. That was very helpful.
Nicole does a lot of color swatching. Her organizational ideas are impressive. In previous lessons I have shown some of my own color swatches. This is the one I use the most.
The stamping is done on Neenah cardstock which is what I use most frequently.
The second butterfly is the Copic color that comes closest to the Altenew ink color.
The R tells me if I have that reinker.
The other color swatches I use the most show the tulip stamped in every single Altenew color family.
It is very helpful when I want to see the overall look of an Altenew family. For instance is it more red or pink? The individual colors sometimes don’t reflect the finished product using all 4 shades.
The most enjoyable assignment was looking through magazines for card ideas. Not looking at cards but home decor, fashion, advertisement layouts etc. I could have made many more cards from magazine ideas!
This green really caught my eye. A combination of Hunter Green and Lagoon on a seafoam cardstock came closest to creating this green. (It’s a better match in person than it is in the photo.)
The combination of green and pink were also recreated on my card with the flowers and die from Build-a-Flower Rose.
If you magnify the card you can see the wood panel design using a popped-up frame and “baseboard”.
Instead of the metal containers I made tiny envelopes from
2 1/8 square paper. (YouTube tutorial.) The silver bows bring in a metallic look
The sentiment (I Adore You) using the word “sending” reflects the envelopes . . . did you pick up on that?
The card has a lot of dimension and texture.
Trends
Color Trends have always interested me. Nicole suggests a number of ways to research color trends that can be applied to card making. My old friend, Navy Blue, now called Classic Blue, is back again! (It never stays away for very long.) What does change is the colors that go with it.
Color Forecast for the Summer of 2020
(BTW I saw several photos of PINK kitchens.)
Color Trends in a 5 x 7 card:
The header on the Altenew publicity for the release of Precious Blooms just totally captivated me. I HAD to try to copy it. The Precious Blooms flowers and leaves dominate the card. A couple flowers from Exotic Tulip and Totally Tropical were added. Finally packages from Piles of Presents created more of a birthday theme. The sentiment is from Birthday Greetings. Stickles are added to the flower centers and package ribbons.
Style
Altenew released Aztec Motif Stencil in 2018.
Vicky Papaioannou’s card for that blog hop caused me to immediately order that stencil.
I pulled it out for this class as fringe is one of the style
trends mentioned for 2020.
I just finished reading Indian in the Cupboard to my
grandchildren. That may have also been an inspiration
for this card.
Mission Inspiration reminded me that card ideas are everywhere if we are open to looking at our surroundings in a different way.
The desert is in bloom. As I walk my dog, Ollie, this week I’m going to focus on color combinations in the brilliant cactus flowers.
