The delivery of my monthly Altenew subscriptions is like getting a birthday present every month. They are economical and together give me a variety of crafting supplies for my projects.

Below you will find what I’m making with this month’s subscriptions.

Build-A-Garden Monthly Subscription

Build-A-Garden Rosa Gallica

One week from today I leave for San Miguel De Allende to experience how Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is celebrated in Mexico.

I’ve taken pictures, collected ticket stubs, saved brochures and post cards and assembled travel scrapbooks since I was a teen. This adventure is perfect for a travel journal because I am going for inspiration. The colorful event will hopefully inspire new color pallets for my crafting. And the beautiful celebration of death will give me a new perspective on dying.

I purchased a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 ” spiral bound notebook of watercolor paper. It seemed an ideal size for travel. The watercolor paper would allow me to use any medium.

For the first page I used the stencils to color the largest image of Build-a-Garden Rosa Gallica. Because I plan to use the new Beach Garden Alcohol Markers in the journal I selected those colors in Altenew Crisp Dye Inks for this page; Deep Blue Sea and Golden Sunset along with Tropical Forest. I fussy cut a second flower and popped it with foam tape after sliding it slighting to the side of the first flower to form a shadow.

I ink blended the background with the Deep Blue Sea and Golden Sunshine. The Illusion Spiral Stencil was used over the background on the bottom of the page. The Sketched Lines Stencil was used on the top of the page.

The title was die cut from Mighty Alphabet 110# white cardstock which had been ink blended with Altenew’s Large Blending Brushes in the same colors listed above. I stacked and glued the letters in 3 layers so they were raised from the page.

Sentiments were clear heat-embossed and die cut with Featured Sentiments Dies.

Rosa Gallica and Sketched Line Stencil

This itinerary was a great reference throughout my trip. I love the tiny floral border created from images in the Rosa Gallica stamp set. Those little images included in many of
Altenew’s stamp sets are sometimes overlooked gems.

I am so excited for this trip and for creating my first travel journal.

Paint-A-Flower Monthly Subscription

Paint-A-Flower Modern Pink Dianthus

The Paint-A-Flower has the best price point! It includes an outline floral image and some of the best sentiments in the Altenew line. I return to them again and again for my projects.

The Modern Pink Dianthus was stamped on Altenew’s Fabulous Masking Paper (white side) then used to cover each image so the next one could be stamped in Obsidian Pigment Ink.

I used an artist’s license and made my Pink Dianthus red with Altenew’s Essential Watercolors.

Craft-A-Flower Monthly Subscription

If I had to choose a favorite monthly subscription, this would be the one. It’s all about die cutting. I can use Altenew’s Glitter Cardstock, alcohol inks, water color, even pattern paper to assemble these gorgeous 3D flowers.

Craft-A-Flower Water Lily

For this water lily I combined white cardstock with gold and silver glitter cardstock. The leaves are cut from Altenew’s Green Meadow’s Gradient Cardstock. The dies are marked to make assembly super easy. And look at the veins which emboss into each petal!

I could not resist including the fish from Goldfish Pond stamp and Dies with this water lily. They are a delight to color with Altenew’s Alcohol markers.

The background is intended to resemble the tile lining in an aging pond. I colored embossing paste with water color marker reinkers then spread it unevenly over the Wavy Grid Stencil. There is more information about this card in a separate blog post.

Craft-A-Flower Water Lily

The technique I used for this card are similar to the previous card with the goldfish. More details can be found in a separate CAF Water Lily Blog Post.

More blogs with more ideas for these monthly subscriptions are just waiting for you to visit again. Since I am last on the list, you can return to the Altenew Blog and start all over!
