A Year in Review: Crafters’ Edition Blog Hop #2

Thank you, Nandini Karmarkar (nanspaintpaperscissors.blogspot.com), for sending Altenew Fans my way. It’s been a year of beautiful Altenew products. I am inspired by what these talented crafters have created with love.

It takes a village. That phrase has been the foundation for Bridget Casey’s Free Saturday Workshops where I teach once a month and my own classes every second Wednesday of the month.

As we teach, we encourage participants to offer suggestions and changes that they feel would improve the project. So colors change, elements are moved products are subtituted and even better cards are created because “the village” participated.

When asked to post favorite projects from the past year, I immediately thought of those we made together in those informal, sometimes quite chatty classes.

Bird of the Wood. itty Bitty Branches and Walnut Branch 3D Embossing Folder

Originally I entered this card for an Altenew Monthly Challenge. I will admit I didn’t mail it. I kept it for myself intending to make more. That opportunity came in November for my Second Wednesday class. Everyone fell in love with this little bird and the Lapis Lazuli background. Participants changed it up, some using the cardinal from Seasons Tweetings.

My Blog post for November, 2022 has more details about the card.

Always Sunshine

This tag represents my style with the bling, dramatic colors, metallic gold and alcohol marker coloring. Details can be found in the blog post for my November 12th class. Some participants changed their colors to something less holiday. Some made a slimline card and others rearranged the elements for an A2 card. All were amazing.

Sunflower Bundle 3D Embossing Folder

Erum Tasneem posted a tutorial (on the Altenew Card Blog) which I played over and over. I stopped and started and reversed it then got out my supplies and water colored this image. It was the first water color project I did and actually liked!

Many many practice sessions later I asked Erum if I could use this for a class. It was the first in-person class I had taught since the pandemic. Participants at Bluemoon Scrapbooking in Tucson we just as elated as I was to be back together. Their projects exceeded my expectations.

Craft-A-Flower Water Lily

My favorite monthly subscription is the CAF. This water lily card was created for the release hop on 12/20. I included the Goldfish Pond stamp and die set with the water lily. Details are on my blog. Hopefully this technique will be included in a class soon.

Rosa Gallica

I was a scrapbooker long before I became a cardmaker. One of my crafty goals for 2023 is to do some journaling and get back to creating scrapbook pages.

For the Marvelous Monthly December 2022 release I started a journal about my recent trip to Mexico. Check my blog for this and other pages from my journal.

On February 18th I will be teaching a scrapbook page on Bridget Casey’s Free Saturday Workshop. We will apply Altenew fabulous florals to a heritage page. As always participants will make cards or veer off to journal or scrapbook projects that represents their style.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. There are many more blogs that will inspire you today and all this week. Next stop on this hop is Teri Wilson (terismailbox.blogspot.com). If you get lost along the way or just want to hop all over again, return to the Altenew Card Blog (wp.me/p6Dps1-hox).

  1. I understand. My MIL got me into card making. We are each good at it but when we work together it always comes out better.
